A patent is granted to all technological inventions providing the conditions of novelty, invention step, and applicability to the industry.  

A registered patent is under protection for 20 years as of the date of filing.

Utility Model is granted to all technological inventions providing the conditions of novelty and applicability to the industry. 

A utility is differed from patent registration in its two basic features:

   - The first is that a utility can neither be a processor a formulization obtained by a process.

   - The second is that the inventive step is not a criterion to be examined in a utility.

A registered utility model is under protection for 10 years as of the date of filing.

Utility model and patent filings made through Turkish National Patent and Trademark Office only allows you get a registration in Turkey and does not give an exclusive right in other countries.  

In the case, the annuity payments are not made timely and on a regular basis, the registration would be canceled.
